Counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families.

Meet Amanda

Amanda attended grad school between 2015-2018 which focused on many aspects that an MFT (marriage and family therapist) would encounter outside of school and into the workplace. One class that piqued her interest the most was a small business class that brought in a panel of MFT's who described what they do with their business having now been graduated and licensed. What she learned was that having a private practice allows for flexibility and outreach to all kinds of people who may be interested in therapy. She became an Independent Contractor in March of 2019 and quickly learned the tips and tricks of how to run a business on her own. With that knowledge, she created her business, Amanda Capela LMFT, in January 2020 with the hopes of one day owning a private practice. With the onset of Covid-19, she knew she would want to take advantage of being virtual to allow more people to access therapy during a scary and questionable time.

Her therapy style is warm, compassionate, and empathetic while also using her sense of humor when appropriate. In a non-judgmental and safe environment, she will collaborate with you to ensure that your work together is meaningful and goal-oriented, suited to fit your needs.

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." It's time to start living the life that is calling you.

My Therapy Approach

Compassion

Individual's who are looking to begin therapy are typically in a state of emotional dysregulation, anxiousness, or struggling to define what they're experiencing. Being able to attend therapy and know that the therapist is compassionate and empathetic is a great way to build rapport and help the client feel comfortable.

Collaboration

It takes two to tango. I meet my clients where they are at when they walk in the door. By working together we can establish a relationship that allows for openness, with a bit of challenging, to help the client reach their goals.

Respect

Especially for diversity. I am open to meeting with people across cultures, lifestyles, identities, etc. This helps to better understand the person as a whole and allow for change to take place by being truly who you are without limitations.

Belief in the Process

Therapy is not a quick fix. It requires time, patience, and effort to get to where you want to be. I believe that my approach will allow for change.
