The best time to pursue family therapy varies from family to family and issue to issue. Family therapy differs from individual therapy in that, Amanda will meet with the family as a whole and then each individual family member involved.
Some signs that your family may need family therapy are:
- Lack of communication (silence isn't always golden).
- Consistent mood swings of either one or more family members.
- Substance abuse of one or more members can put stress on the family as a whole.
- A genetic disorder or mental health issue, such as ADHD and Autism, in one or more family members is cause for family therapy as these can impact the whole family.
- Family trauma.
- Unresolved conflicts.
- Struggling child.
Therapy can be used as a last resort option, however, I recommend using it as a preventative measure.
A few benefits related to family therapy are resolved conflicts, better communication, a healthy living environment, and more. The benefits are unending and any family can benefit from a family therapy session.
